WHAT’S THE BEST ALCOHOL TO DRINK WHILE I AM ON THE DIET?

All alcohol consumption will slow down weight loss. Fact. When people ask this question, they actually mean, ‘Which type of alcohol will have the least impact weight loss? And the answer is champagne or dry red or dry white wine. All are much the same.

I HAVE A TENDENCY TO CONSTIPATION, WILL THIS DIET MAKE IT WORSE?

Yes. The lack of fibre in the diet will make constipation worse, but, we give you fibre tablets to help avoid this. You may also find it helpful to use Slimmatee [from health food stores] which acts as a mild laxative.

HOW FAST WILL I LOSE THE WEIGHT?

Patients who stick absolutely rigidly to the diet can expect to lose a stone [6kg] in 3 – 4 weeks. We see this level of success repeated over and over again. And you can do it too. However, even a small deviation from the diet can dramatically slow down weight loss. The diet must be adhered to exactly as per instruction.

I’M TOLD THAT IN THE FIRST WEEK THE WEIGHT I LOSE IS ALL WATER, IS THAT CORRECT?

In the first week, much of the weight lost is water. This is because you are suddenly and dramatically decreasing your intake of carbohydrates and this has the effect of making the kidneys lose water.

HOW LONG CAN I STAY ON THE DIET FOR?

This varies from one patient to another, however you can safely stay on the diet for a couple of months, under medical supervision; you would then be advised to take a break.

I AM ANXIOUS ABOUT NOT PUTTING THE WEIGHT BACK ON AGAIN. WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THAT?

On completion of the diet, when you have reached your goal weight, we will instruct you in a sensible eating plan which will ensure you maintain your weight loss for as long as you stick to it.

We also invite you to attend for a weigh-only free-of-charge appointment a month after your weight loss course has ended to ensure your weight loss is maintained.

If you return to eating carbohydrates, especially grains [rice, corn], refined carbs [breakfast cereals; anything with flour] and starchy carbohydrates [root vegetables; sugar] you WILL regain weight. This can happen quite insidiously : BEWARE OF CARB CREEP ! AVOID CARBICIDE !
