Preheat grill to moderate.
- 2lb [1 kg] rump or sirloin steak
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled and halved
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Pinch of salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 6 slices bacon, cut in half lengthways to give 12 long thin strips
- 12 cocktail sticks
Rub the garlic lightly over the steak. Cut the steak into 12 squares, each about 2 inches x 2 inches [4cm x 4cm]. Place in a bowl and mix with salt, pepper and basil. Wrap a piece of bacon around each square of steak and secure with a cocktail stick.
Grill approximately 5 minutes each side and serve.
